I know this might be a random post for me to do but I think it fits in perfectly with my health and wellness knowledge! This being Life Insurance Awareness Month and All!
The great thing is I also know a thing or two about life insurance and how different things in your life can hinder you from getting the best coverage. Most people wait until something happens to prompt them to get life insurance and this is the worst way to approach it.
You don’t really need life insurance unless you have dependents or some sort of financial obligation that if you passed away would be passed on to someone else.
So after I had my son we waited about a year to get life insurance. At that time I was in great shape and this was the optimal time to get life insurance. Turns out we were right, I took a medical exam to get the best rates and #nailedit
But let’s fast forward to today. I have been through three years of fertility treatments, an ectopic pregnancy, back surgery and now cancer. HMMM, what kind of rate do you think I would get now?
So I am just going to use a few examples to show you how I would be knocked out from getting life insurance.
- Fertility Treatments: Femara
- Back Surgery: Just knocks me out of preferred rates because of the recent surgery
- Ectopic Pregnancy: Methotrexate
Now the three examples above in most cases knock me out of a non-medical policy and would also take me out of the preferred coverage class making insurance more expensive.
- Cancer: Knock out unless you have been in remission for over 5-10 years
Please if I can share one thing with you, GET LIFE INSURANCE WHILE YOU ARE HEALTHY. Don’t be afraid to take the medical exam for a cheaper rate and longer-term, because you never know what could be in your future!
The most popular way to purchase life insurance is online these days! I used truebluelifeinsurance.com to get my life insurance. They have great reviews and the agents are so knowledgable.
I am living proof that your life can change in a matter of days! So don’t be afraid to protect your family!
